Symbiotic Birdhouse
THIS PROJECT WAS DEVELOPED FOR A RENDER WEEKLY DESIGN CHALLENGE FOCUSED ON REIMAGINING THE CONCEPT OF A BIRDHOUSE. THE BRIEF ENCOURAGED DESIGNERS TO EXPLORE NOT JUST FINAL VISUALS, BUT ALSO THE CREATIVE PROCESS BEHIND THEM, USING VIZCOM: AN AI-POWERED TOOL THAT SUPPORTS SKETCHING, MATERIAL EXPLORATION, AND EVEN ANIMATED VISUALIZATIONS. I BEGAN BY DEFINING A VISUAL LANGUAGE INSPIRED BY ORGANIC AND BIOMORPHIC SHAPES. USING VIZCOM, I GENERATED QUICK DESIGN VARIATIONS AND TESTED DIFFERENT MATERIAL AND TEXTURE IDEAS. FROM THERE, I MOVED INTO 3D MODELING IN BLENDER, DEVELOPING A CONCEPT THAT MERGES ARCHITECTURE WITH NATURE. THE FINAL BIRDHOUSE IS 3D-PRINTED AND COMPOSED OF TWO INTERLOCKING PARTS: A LOWER SECTION THAT SERVES AS A PROTECTIVE SHELTER FOR BIRDS, AND AN UPPER PLANTER DESIGNED TO HOLD VEGETATION, ALLOWING GREENERY TO GROW OVER THE FORM. THE RESULT IS A POETIC AND FUNCTIONAL OBJECT WHERE DESIGN AND NATURE EXIST IN SYMBIOSIS, AND WHERE DIGITAL TOOLS SUPPORT, RATHER THAN REPLACE, HUMAN INTUITION.
